Location #4

A classic old gas station with a connected cafe, this old Norwalk and Rincon Cafe is located at the very north end of this section, very near the convergence with the current 101 freeway, on the east side of Alta St. I am still reasearching the history of this little gem, and will update with more details soon. There is also a rare migrant farm workers camp right next door which has an interesting history also. This location is listed on the maps as the town of Dean.

View looking northeast of the old gas station/cafe.

Faded but easily readable. Rincon Cafe

Vies showing the unusual roof design of the old Norwalk Station.

What's left of the old pump island.
A rare second pump island for gas stations of this vintage.
The connected garage bay on the north end of the building.
The old original sign pole and base.

2008 Google Earth close-up showing the old Dean agricultural camp just to the north of the station. Many of these shacks are gone today.
