Avila Section
The Avila section extends from the large cut between Shell Beach and the Avila Canyon to the intersection of the 101 freeway and S. Higuera Rd. The original route went directly over the cut, then turned west for a short distance, passed by the Avila Bay Resort, then turned north on Ontario Rd. From there it proceeded north past the old Miles train depot of the Pacific Coast Railway and the schoolhouse, and continued north along the path of the current freeway and Ontario Rd.
