Location #4

The famous Elkhorn Saloon on Mission Street, establised in 1853. My father remembers frequenting this establishment while training at Camp Roberts during World War II. The plaque in the second photo tells the history of this colorful place.

View of the old saloon looking southwest from the west side of Mission St. The business just south of the Elkorn is fenced off because of earthquake damage.

This plaque has been placed near the entrance to the saloon.
